How I Work, What to Expect
The basis of my work is Healing Touch, an evidence-based integrative therapy used widely in health care settings and private practice.
The goal of Healing Touch is to support the body’s natural self-healing process by restoring harmony and balance to the energy system.
Recipients report:
- Relief from pain, anxiety and tension
- Better sleep, mood and emotional balance
- Reduction in side effects from cancer, medical and pharmaceutical treatments
- Improvement in chronic conditions
- Faster healing from physical injury, surgery and medical procedures
Self-Care Benefits:
Healing Touch is ideal for self-care. I often share simple Healing Touch techniques and mind-body practices that can be used at home to provide relief and support healing and overall health.
Professional and Trustworthy:
Healing Touch Practitioners are trained by instructors certified to teach the Healing Touch Program’s standardized 5-level curriculum developed by holistic nurse Janet Mentgen, RN in the 1980s. HTP follows a Code of Ethics and Scope of Practice. It is provided by practitioners and healthcare professionals in private practices, hospitals and medical centers, VA medical centers, wellness clinics, PT clinics, Long-Term Care facilities, and Hospice and Palliative Care programs.
What to expect from a treatment (in-person or distance):
- I strive to create a safe and nurturing environment for my clients.
- Private sessions typically range from 30-90 minutes.
- Clients remain clothed and are usually lying on a treatment table.
- There is no physical manipulation of tissue.
- I follow a 10-step sequence based on the nursing process to assure a consistent, complete experience for each client.
- With the client’s permission, I place my hands gently on or near the body, and use heart-centered intention as I work with the energy system.
I also draw from my studies and practice in Herbal Medicine, End-of-Life Doula work, Contemplative Studies, and Yoga/Breath/Movement/Meditation.
